A 68-year-old woman from Benoit’s Cove who was in a hurry to get somewhere on Tuesday, Aug. 4, won’t be driving herself for a bit.

An officer with the RCMP’s traffic services observed the woman driving at a high rate of speed on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Humber Valley Resort. Radar readings showed the vehicle’s speed as 153 km/h, police stated in a news release.

The woman was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for excessive speed, and her vehicle was seized and her licence suspended.
