LABRADOR CITY, N.L. — It was a sense of patriotic pride coupled with a warm sunny day — one of the few so far this summer — that drew a large crowd to Centennial playground in Labrador City July 1. There were lots of games for the young set, face painting and of course food.
The day was highlighted at the picnic in the park. The recreation department and town employees, as well as volunteers at various activities worked hard to make for an enjoyable Canada Day.
People were also treated to an excerpt from “We Built This Town “, a youth lead musical about the rich mining history of Labrador West. The musical plays for 13 dates from July 7-30 at the Orange Lodge.
Rounding off the perfect summer day, people were treated to a fireworks display at Tanya Beach at sundown.
