PORT AUX BASQUES, N.L.

Homeowners on Rowe Street in Port aux Basques startled a group of would-be thieves breaking into their vehicle.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning last Friday and the homeowners contacted the Channel-Port aux Basques Royal Canadian Mounted Police Detachment about the incident and provided descriptions of four males.

The four were described as being between the ages of 17 to 19 with heights varying from five-feet-seven inches to six-feet tall. The tallest one was wearing a green hoodie and the shortest one was wearing a blue hoodie. The other two were wearing black hoodies.

Officers later learned another vehicle in the area was entered and had items stolen from it at about the same time.

Police are reminding motorists to ensure their vehicles are locked at all times and valuables should be out of sight.

Anyone with information on these incidents can contact the detachment at 709-695-2149 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.nlcrimestoppers.com or on the “P3 Tips” app.
