The 3Rs in Nature
Kids Club Program for May at The Suncor Energy Fluvarium. There is no such thing as garbage in nature — plants and animals can recycle everything they use. Discover how caddisflies borrow from the plants to make their homes, how worms turn old plants into soil, how nothing goes to waste in nature and how we can try to be waste-free, too. Every Saturday and Sunday from May 4-26 at 1:30 p.m. — excluding Sunday, May 12 due to our Mother’s Day brunch. Program runs approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Artists-in-Residence
Arts Northeast will be the artists-in-residence at the Water Street Gallery, second floor of the Heritage Shop on Water Street, from April 27 to June 23. Each of the five artists will create new works during their residency. They are Brenda Rowe, Michelle Whitten LaCour, Joan Roberts, Dora Cooper and Pay Hayden-Ryan. Artists will be present Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The grand opening is April 27 from noon to 5 p.m.

Neighbourhood Celebrations
Pop in to one of St. John’s community centres for a free, fun-filled family event including carnival games, cartoon characters, crafts and more. Celebrations happening at the following community centres: Paul Reynolds Community Centre, H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, Southlands Community Centre, Kilbride Lions Community Centre, Shea Heights Community Centre and Goulds Community Centre. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple or yellow to celebrate the City of St. John’s recreation division receiving the High Five Accreditation, the highest level of quality and safety in children’s sport and recreation programs.

Barbara De Land speaks with Bill Hickey, 44th Baden Powell Scouting Guild master, about scouting history in Newfoundland, what the Baden Powell Scouting Guild is and his work as scouting guild master. He will also discuss his radio work in Corner Brook and St. John's, and his work for many years as a federal government communications officer, which included the traumatic days of the Newfoundland cod moratorium.
