Let’s Make a Choir 2019, under the direction of Valerie Long and now in its fifth year, is open for registration. Come and enjoy a unique 10-week session for adults. It begins in March and culminates with a concert performance in June. No audition, no experience required, but tons of fun while learning choral music. The 2018 Rhonda Payne Theatre Award will be presented in conjunction with the PerSIStence Theatre Company’s production of Berni Stapleton’s “Offensive to Some” presented by RCA Theatre, directed by Ruth Lawrence on Thursday, Jan. 24. The performance begins at 8 p.m. at the LSPU Hall, and the presentation of the award will take place after the show. The award honours the memory of actor, writer and director Rhonda Payne. It assists female theatre artists in Newfoundland and Labrador who are struggling to achieve their goals as actors or writers, and comes with a $500 cash award. CPFF Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group
Support groups are typically patient-directed, and are extremely helpful in fulfilling areas of need that cannot be achieved during clinical visits. Feedback from other centres across Canada has been very positive. Topics may be disease-specific, but can include anything that patients feel is relevant to them or their loved ones. The next support group meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Summit RecPlex, 126 Smallwood Dr., in Mount Pearl. Open to any interested family members. RVSP to [email protected] to confirm attendance. Spread the word to others who might benefit from this meeting (all are asked to RSVP).
