TRURO, N.S. — A law firm representing families of last April’s Nova Scotia shooting victims has hired a criminal investigation firm to assist in finding any information, photos or other evidence related to the continuing RCMP investigation.

“To assist our ongoing efforts, Patterson Law has retained the prominent criminal investigation firm Martin & Associates Investigations to provide expertise in the subject matter of police command procedure, crime scene analysis, police investigation procedures and any associated issues,” Robert Pineo said in a news release.

Pineo said Tom Martin, a former member of the Halifax Regional Police with 30 year’s experience in criminal investigation and nine years conducting investigations in the private sector, has been retained to assist in the process.

Patterson Law is representing all but three of the families in the upcoming public inquiry into the shooting spree that killed 22 people and an unborn child.

“In order to establish and provide evidence which supports this action, it is crucial to have a truly independent body thoroughly review and further investigate various components of the investigation that was conducted by the RCMP," Pineo said. “The Martin & Associates investigative team has the knowledge and experience not only in homicide investigations, but also in the proper methods used when conducting major and sensitive cases of this complexity and magnitude.”

Pineo said the “sole purpose of the investigative review is to uncover the truth; truth for the families and truth for the general public."

"To this end, all steps will be taken to identify the whole truth of what occurred on April 18 and 19 of this year," he said.

To further assist in its efforts to solicit information, or other evidence pertaining to efforts related to the police investigation, Pineo said Patterson Law has established a Facebook Tip Page entitled “NS Mass Shooting Tip Page.”

Anyone with any information, documentation, photos, or video footage is asked to contact Martin & Associates directly on the tip page, by email at tips@martininvestigations.ca, or by phone at 902-259-3090.

For anyone wishing to remain anonymous there is a direct link on the Martin & Associates Website where the information and files can be provided securely.
