RODDICKTON, N.L. — RCMP arrested a 32-year-old Deadman’s Cove man on June 18 for his role in a single vehicle collision near Roddickton on Oct. 2, 2018.

Brent Genge was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

The incident that lead to the charges happened around 8 p.m. on Oct. 2. St. Anthony and Roddickton RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Route 433 and 434 on the outskirts of Roddickton.

When police arrived on scene they found a single vehicle, which had gone over an embankment, and all three occupants of the vehicle were escorted to the local medical centre. A 33-year-old from Roddickton succumbed to her injuries and the two other occupants were transported to Dr. Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Genge appeared, via telephone, in Corner Brook Provincial Court today, June 19, and has been released on a number of conditions. He is scheduled to appear in St. Anthony Provincial Court on July 23 at 1:30 p.m.
