ROCKY HARBOUR, N.L. - Gros Morne National Park will soon begin offering limited camping services.

Front-country camping for self-contained use (RV, camper or trailer) will begin at Berry Hill Campground and Green Point Campground on June 29, according to a release from the park.

The same thing will apply at the Shallow Bay Campground and Trout River Campground starting on July 6.

Campers will have access to water fill up and dumping stations, but campground kitchen shelters, washrooms and showers will remain closed.

Park visitors will have access to most trails, day-use areas and green spaces beginning the week of June 29, however, the Discovery Centre and Visitor Centre will remain closed. Events, group and interpretation activities also remain suspended.

Once the province moves to COVID-19 Alert Level 2, camping at easily accessed backcountry campsites and tent camping and access to campground facilities like washrooms, showers, playgrounds and kitchen shelters at front country campgrounds will resume as soon as possible.

Camping will initially be available to visitors with existing reservations. New online reservations for campgrounds will be accepted during the coming weeks, starting on June 28 for front-country campgrounds.

Information on backcountry camping can call 709-458-2417 or email [email protected].
