HOPEDALE, N.L. — Following an investigation by Hopedale RCMP, Labrador District General Investigation Section and the RCMP Major Crime Unit into the homicide of a man who died in the community this past July, Daniel Onalik, 19, of Hopedale has been charged with second-degree murder following an investigation by the RCMP into a violent assault on May 11.
The victim, a 44-year-old Hopedale man, died on July 23 of injuries he sustained during the assault.
Onalik appeared in court Friday and is being held in custody. He was previously charged with aggravated assault in the case.
His next court appearance is set for Nov. 17.
