Irishtown man charged following a disturbance involving firearms

CORNER BROOK, N.L. — CORNER BROOK

A 62-year-old man from Irishtown is facing charges of assault, uttering threats and unauthorized possession of firearms following an incident in the town on Monday.

The Corner Brook RCMP received a call for assistance at 6:20 p.m. and officers from the Corner Brook and Deer Lake detachments were dispatched to a house in the town.

The man was arrested and taken into custody. Various weapons, firearms and ammunition were seized from the home.

The man was later released and is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Oct. 27.
