A pair of men charged in the killing of Steven Miller in 2016 are facing prison sentences of 12 years and six months.

Chesley Lucas and Calvin Kenny were originally charged with murder in the stabbing death but later pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. The plea also applied to charges of kidnapping, arson, and robbery.

Lucas gets 804 days credit for time already served.

While Kenny received a lifetime firearms ban, Lucas will be prohibited from owning or using a firearm for 10 years. Both men are also required to submit DNA.

In delivering the sentence, Judge Colin Flynn noted the seriousness of the charges but added that both men are young fathers and he noted that Lucas in particular has made some efforts to rehabilitate.

It was an emotional courtroom and members of the victim’s family could be heard sobbing as Flynn described the autopsy report.

As Kenny was being led from the courtroom following sentencing, Miller’s grandfather leaned in close and said, “Burn in hell. Burn in hell.”

Miller was kidnapped from his home in the middle of the night — and the home was then set on fire — and his body was found four hours later in a residential driveway. He had been stabbed to death.

The pair are one of four men charged in Miller’s death in July 2016.

Kyle Morgan, 20, was sentenced to a year behind bars last August, while Paul Connolly, 36, could still face a murder charge.
