SOUTH BRANCH, N.L. — The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Port aux Basques is investigating a hit and run collision involving two all-terrain vehicles that resulted in injuries to one of the drivers.

The incident occurred on May 13 on the Trans Canada Trail near South Branch between Doyle’s and Flat Bay.

The injured driver reported the incident to police on May 15. He told them he’d been out for a ride on the evening of May 13 when he saw headlights coming behind him at a fast rate of speed. He slowed down and pulled over to the side of the trail and was struck from behind by another ATV and pushed into the ditch.

The operator of the other ATV did not stop and left the man at the scene in the ditch. His injuries were minor in nature and his ATV was extensively damaged.
