Have a hankering to dive into icy cold waters off Topsail beach on New Year’s Day along with a bunch of benevolent, bearded, and bedazzled men?

Then feel free to join the MerB’ys and the Newfoundland and Labrador Beard and Moustache Club as they take part in the second annual polar bear swim put off by Project Kindness.

Swimmers looking to take the plunge are asked to make a donation directly to the Bridges to Hope Food Aid Centre or bring a non-perishable food item with them.

Brave divers should also bring a warm change of clothes and towels.

Volunteers will have bonfires lit and hot chocolate to hand out, and first aid responders will be on site.

The gathering starts at noon, with the plunge taking place at 12:30 p.m. Any schedule changes will be posted on the event’s Facebook page.
