CLARENVILLE, N.L. — Random Square Mall in Clarenville is reducing its business hours in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a post on their Facebook page on Monday, March 15, their hours, effective March 17, are as follows:
• Monday, Tuesday and Saturday – 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Wednesday to Friday – 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
• And Sunday – Noon to 5 p.m.
As for the Sobeys and the Newfoudland and Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC) stores within the mall, they continue to operate as usual. However, a representative from Sobeys told SaltWire Network they will have an update on operations in the near future.
Many businesses, across the province and throughout the country, have been forced to change the way they service clientele in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Walmart stores are a major fixture on community landscapes across the province.
The president and CEO of Walmart Canada, Haio Barbeito, issued a statement updating customers on store operations.
Barbeito assured the public that the company's primary focus is the health and wellness of the associates, customers and communities.
In their statement the president said they’ve already taken action on several decisions including: restricting company travel to only critical business, restocking stores with items in high demand, increased in-store cleaning and support for employees — including additional financial support for associates under quarantine.
The Clarenville Area Co-op has so far not issued any notice of change of hours. On their Facebook page they note only that the annual general meeting has been postponed until further notice, as a precautionary measure following recommendations from the government and health organizations.
They will re-schedule the meeting with a new date sometime in the future.
