Originally scheduled to be lifted around 10 a.m. Friday morning, mechanical issues forced a delay that lasted over an hour.
When it was finally ready to go, the massive crane moved into position, while workers affived a giant piece of white metal to its hook. Moments later, the metal was in the air and drifting towards a different set of workers waiting at the top of the right spire.
The whole procedure took close to a half hour to complete while Mayor Wayne Power and other onlookers stopped to take a peek.
Costing some $40.6 million, the new bridge is located to adjacent to the current bridge in use and is estimated to be completed sometime in 2016.
