HARBOUR GRACE, N.L. — Youth from Harbour Grace's Splash Centre joined Communities Against Violence Wednesday, July 17, to show support for people loving who they love as part of a Pride flag raising event.
Communities Against Violence executive director Stacy Harris stressed the importance of helping children understand the concept of equality and how it relates to families that may seem different from their own.
"You're never too young to learn about love and equality," she said in front of an audience that included people young and old. "While they might not know what equality means, you can instill in them the basic foundations and build upon them as they get older."
Members of the local town council were also on hand for the flag raising event, which also coincides with St. John's Pride Week celebrations for the LBGTQ2S+ community. Those celebrations continue until July 21.
