FORTEAU, N.L. — A Quebec man was taken into custody by Forteau RCMP on July 15 following a number of complaints in or near the community of English Point in Forteau, a community on the South Labrador coast.
Tyler Hobbs of Lourdes-de-Blanc Sablon appeared in court that day and was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of arson, mischief, dangerous driving and driving without a valid license.
According to police, one complaint involved the report of a single-vehicle collision on Route 510 near the community. Police also investigated a report of arson to the interior of a vehicle that was parked at a residence in the community.
They discovered the interior of a second vehicle parked at that same residence was also burned.
Forteau RCMP, with assistance from Labrador Forensic Identification Services, conducted an extensive investigation into these complaints leading to Hobbs' arrest.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court at a later date.
