Rainbow Riders receives $50,000 from NL Building Trades

“We were pleased to host representatives of Rainbow Riders some time ago to hear of their project.  They have taken on a great cause, one that our organization is fully supportive of.  Many of our members have family members who have been a part of Rainbow Riders, and have seen first-hand the tremendous benefits of their program,” said Darin King, executive director, NL Building Construction Trades Council.
Rainbow Riders offers therapeutic riding services to youth with a range of cognitive and physical disabilities.  It offers young people a challenge to take part in the kinds of physical or social activities that many take for granted. The organization is constructing a new, world-class facility in Pippy Park that will benefit those involved for many years to come, and provide opportunity for expansion and the involvement of new members.
“Our contribution will assist in the replacement of a barn and riding arena, a new learning centre, as well as landscaping and new riding trail. We are very much looking forward to seeing this project completed, and joining with contributors and supporters to welcome members to their new home, ” said King.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Building & Construction Trades Council is an umbrella labour organization which promotes and co-ordinates the interests of 16 building and construction trades unions, their international affiliates, and more than 15,000 tradesworkers in Newfoundland and Labrador.
