This past weekend, more than 140 volunteers from 16 Newfoundland and Labrador Search and Rescue Association teams converged on Terra Nova Resort and Golf Community in Port Blandford for two days of training.

Various sessions were conducted by the association Saturday and Sunday to help advance the search and rescue skills of the volunteers.

The sessions included helicopter rescue re-certification, navigation skills, first aid, GPS usage, map and compass skills, evidence searching, fire lighting and team building.

Members of ground search and rescue teams regularly use these skills while serving their communities.
