CORNER BROOK, N.L. — The City of Corner Brook started reopening select recreational spaces on Thursday, June 25.

They included: Jubilee Field, the dog park, the skate park, tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, and basketball courts.

Playground equipment, which had been off-limits during COVID-19, was also reopened at Margaret Bowater Park and Bartlett’s Point. Both facilities will undergo regular sanitizing, however, users have to adhere to physical distancing rules and bring their own hand sanitizer.

The city issued a release on the reopenings and in it said an announcement about the opening of other playground facilities will be made at a later date.

With the heatwave the city has been experiencing this week, one welcome spot opening on Friday will surely be the splash pad at Margaret Bowater Park.

Opening of the park’s outdoor pool will be delayed while staff members undergo special training for COVID-19 protocols.
