After a fire at the Canadian Food Sharing Association’s (CFSA) warehouse in Mount Pearl on Jan. 30, firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) gave back to the CFSA by holding a food drive at all eight of their fire stations on Sunday.

During the event — dubbed “Fill the Pockets” — about 1,200 pounds of food was donated and placed in the side pockets of SJRFD fire trucks.

On Monday afternoon, the firefighters went to the new CFSA location on Pippy Place to present executive director Eg Walters with the food and monetary donations, which totalled $865.

At the Mount Pearl Frosty Festival ecumenical church service on Sunday night, churchgoers contributed $830.10 to donate to the CFSA, which was delivered by SJRFD retired firefighter Capt. Lloyd Grandy on Monday.
