As of next Thursday, Newfoundland residents will be able to drive along the province’s roads using studded tires.

Labrador was granted an early exemption last week in advance of weather that was expected to cause dangerous driving conditions.

Studded tires can stay on until April 30, 2019, unless otherwise indicated by Service NL.

The government agency is also reminding to ensure their vehicles are in good working order, including topping up fluids, ensuring wipers and other equipment are working properly and installing a set of four matching winter tires.

Motorists are also encouraged to carry an emergency kit in their vehicle while travelling on the province’s highways, especially in the winter months
