HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. — Drivers kept the Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP busy on Saturday. July 6. Three vehicles were seized that evening, two for speeding and one for alleged impaired driving
At approximately 5:35 p.m. RCMP Labrador Traffic Services stopped a vehicle on Route 520 for allegedly driving 52 km/h over the posted speed limit.
The driver, a 24-year-old woman from Sheshatshiu, was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding, her license was suspended and vehicle was seized.
Later that night, at approximately 9 p.m., RCMP stopped another vehicle on Route 500 for allegedly driving 61 km/h above the posted speed limit.
A 42-year-old woman from Happy Valley-Goose Bay was given a ticket, her license was suspended and vehicle impounded.
About an hour later, at about 10 p.m., RCMP received an anonymous tip of a possible impaired driver heading towards Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Route 520.
RCMP tracked down the vehicle, a traffic stop was initiated and a 53-year-old man from North West River was arrested for impaired driving. The man allegedly provided breath samples more than three times the legal limit.
He was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 16. His driver’s license was suspended and his vehicle seized.
