SHESHATSHIU, N.L. — RCMP are crediting tips from the public as the reason an alleged impaired driver was arrested in Sheshatshiu.
According to a release from the Sheshatshiu RCMP, just before midnight on Jan. 27 concerned citizens told RCMP about a suspected impaired driver in the small Labrador town. They tracked down the vehicle that was described to them and gave the driver a roadside test. RCMP said he failed that test.
The 33-year-old man was arrested and taken back to Sheshatshiu detachment where he provided breath samples RCMP said were almost three times the legal limit.
The driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded. He is scheduled to attend court on February 24, on a charge of impaired driving.
