The RCMP is responding to an active "report of shots fired" incident in Deer Lake in the area of Juniper Street, Maple Street, Willow Place and Tulks Lane.
Any threat to public safety is now contained in that area.
Residents on these streets are asked to remain inside and all others to avoid the area.

Details are scarce, but the RCMP in Deer Lake is telling people in the west coast town remain inside their residences as they investigate a report of shots fired in the community.
A noon-hour release from the RCMP actually said the police force “warns residents to stay inside their homes.”
The entrance to Maple Street, Willow Place and Tulks Lane in Deer Lake is blocked, and the RCMP says it will provide further updates when available.
