LABRADOR CITY, N.L. — Four people were taken to hospital following an incident near Labrador City Wednesday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said at about 10:15 a.m. they were called to an incident on the highway between Labrador City and Churchill Falls. Four Iron Ore company of Canada (IOC) employees were sent to hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the Labrador West Health Centre.

RNC confirmed the road was closed temporarily but was opened in the afternoon, but not a lot of details were available by press time.

Police are continuing to investigate.

According to an email sent to IOC employees, all railway traffic has been suspended until further notice.

IOC declined to comment at press time. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
