After being without water for approximately three days, service has been restored to residents of Terrenceville early Wednesday evening.

Mayor Sheila Cox provided an update to The Southern Gazette on Wednesday, Jan. 22, "The water is back on in the Town," she wrote in a message to The Gazette. "Presently (the town is) under boil order until it gets tested."

Crews with the town worked Wednesday to restore service after a crack was discovered in the town's main water line, they were assisted by workers from the Town of Marystown.

"Their assistance is very much appreciated by the Town of Terrenceville," said Cox. "Great to see towns helping each other in time of emergency."

Council, with the aid of the fire department and other volunteers, distributed bottled water to residents impacted by the water disruption.

Approximately 255 homes were affected, as well as an undisclosed number of apartments.

Earlier this week the Town of Terrenceville declared a state of emergency after the water main break occurred.

The local fire department made arrangements with departments in Grand Le Pierre and English Harbour East to provide back-up fire protection to the town during the course of the water disruption.
