A new cultural action plan is being developed for Newfoundland and Labrador and public consultations are being held across the province.
“Our government recognizes the significant social and economic contributions of the provincial cultural sector, and a new cultural action plan will set priorities and key actions that will support and sustain those contributions and the people who make them,” Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation Minister Christopher Mitchelmore said in a news release April 25.
“For this reason, it is important that we hear directly from the cultural stakeholders to explore themes, as well as provide opportunities to contribute new ideas and prioritize government’s efforts and resources in support of the cultural sector over the next five years.”
The first of 14 sessions will be held at The Rooms in St. John’s next Tuesday, April 30, and they will continue on until the end of May.
Written submissions are also being accepted until July 15 and should be emailed to [email protected]. Confirmation of attendance at the sessions should also be emailed to the same address.
The provincial government is aiming to release the plan early next year.
