The province is still in line for some snow turning to rain come Sunday evening.
Environment Canada says there is a potential for significant rain and mild temperatures for St. John’s, the Avalon Peninsula, and the Burin and Bonavista peninsulas.
Expected rainfall amounts are in the range of five to 15 mm.
With all the snow down, and the resulting melting, the rain will likely lead to some flooding so storm drains should be cleared ahead of time.
SaltWire Network meteorologist Cindy Day says the good weather today and Sunday allows for some extra time to clean-up more snow and prepare for the rain.
“It’s going to be a messy Monday with rain on top of all that snow,” Day said. “So keep that in mind if you are travelling.”
St. John’s lifted its week-long state of emergency (SOE) 6 a.m. today, while neighbouring communities had lifted SOE declarations a couple days before. Snow-clearing and removal remains in full force throughout the region.
