Rise and Shine Nursery in Goulds was buzzing on the weekend with people shopping for plants and flowers.

Even on cool days — it’s open all year round — people visit the nursery to experience the colours and scents of the greenhouses.

The family-run business is celebrating its 20th year this year.

It started with just one greenhouse and now has 24 spread over 30,000 square feet.

Jeannette Putt (left), who owns the greenhouse with her husband Wayne, was onhand Saturday to help customer Yolanda Anderson.

“It lifts up your spirits, it really does,” Putt said of the vibrancy in the greenhouses.

It’s the season to visit nurseries and get rid of winter.
