Paul Woodruff has been named deputy chief of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

The former inspector, born in Twillingate, has been with the RNC since 1986.

The promotion was one of seven announced at the event emceed by Const. Georgina Short in front of family, friends and colleagues.

In addition, two former inspectors — Ed Oates and Shawn O’Reilly — were elevated to superintendent positions.
