RNC searching for armed robber

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is searching for a suspect who robbed a business in the downtown area of St. John’s at around 1:15 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

The police dog and forensic identification services responded to the scene to try and locate the suspect who carried out an armed robbery and fled the scene.

A second incident on Monday afternoon saw a driver stopped on Mt. Scio Road in St. John’s for a routine check.

That driver, a 39-year-old man, had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, and owed $8,500 in fines. In addition, he was charged with breaching a court order and breaching his probation order.

He was also issued three summary offence tickets under the Highway Traffic act.

Police arrested the man and held him to appear in court as well as impounding his vehicle.
