The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Museum is this year’s recipient of the province’s museum association annual Award of Merit.

Each year, the Museum Association of Newfoundland and Labrador presents the award on the basis of contributions to museum and heritage work in the province. It is awarded to an organization for outstanding, innovative or creative achievements in their museum, gallery or heritage field or in any area related to the preservation and development of the province’s cultural heritage.

The volunteer-run Royal Newfoundland Regiment Museum works closely with today’s Regiment to foster a greater understanding of the service and sacrifices of those who have served under its colours since 1795.

The museum says the honour would not be possible without the dedication of its executive committee and for patrons such as Susan Patten of the Harvey Family Foundation and Elinor Gill-Ratcliffe.
