Ashley Hamlyn has strong words for anyone who may be withholding information about her missing brother.
“I hope they realize they’re not going to get away with it, and I hope that guilt crushes them,” she said.
“Even after we find Trev, we’re still going to want to know what happened to him, so there’s going to be no ending until we have the full story.”
Trevor Hamlyn, 33, has been missing for five months.
He was last seen in the Imogene Crescent area of Paradise on June 16. He’s described as 5-10, 230 lbs, with a bald head and goatee.
Hamlyn sat down with The Telegram on Saturday afternoon at her mother’s house.
Her mother, Hamlyn said, is still too emotional to talk about her son.
Hamlyn is battling laryngitis but she spoke strongly, despite the pain that was clear in her watery gaze.
With winter setting in, the family is concerned they’ll be “stuck in limbo” until springtime, but they’re not stopping their efforts.
Family still looking
They continue to do their own investigating — on top of the active investigation ongoing by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
As light snow falls outside the dining room window, Hamlyn talks about how the family hasn’t been the same since her brother went missing.
“I’m dreading family dinner,” she said.
“I’m dreading family dinner. Our life is so messed up that we don’t even want to be all in the same room together because we can tell that he’s missing. Obviously, there’s a big part of our family that’s missing. Trev was always the jokester — he always brought the life to our family dinners, and now that’s gone.”

“Thanksgiving was the roughest for us, and now we have Christmas coming next month which none of us is looking forward to.”
With few new leads, with no idea of her brother’s whereabouts, and with the dreadful thought that perhaps he was murdered, Hamlyn has turned to mediums and psychics for help.
“I know some people think it’s completely ridiculous that I’m even entertaining the idea – but hey, if it brings my brother home, I’ll try anything. I don’t care what people think. I will follow up any lead.”
Hamlyn said her sole focus is bringing him home and argues that most people in her situation would probably do the same thing.
Consulting psychics
So far, she’s spoken with two psychics or mediums in the province, two from out of province, and one Facebook group of psychics.
“They’re saying the same thing repeatedly,” she said.
She admits it’s not concrete information and wonders how seriously she should take it, but said she’s open to any information – from any source – that will bring her brother home.
“The stories that have lined up is that something happened to Trevor – he never did something to himself. He’s in the woods somewhere, a female knows, one or two males know, and it’s someone that was close to Trevor.”
Hamlyn also believes the cell phone belonging to her brother – found by volunteers on June 25 during one of the searches – was put there by someone on purpose.
“At this point, I trust no one. Only who’s in my family. I’m not pointing fingers and I’m not blaming anyone, but you can’t help but not trust anyone.”

She said it was laid perfectly on the grass, face up, without any dirt on it.
“We even had a private tracker who came out, and there was no scent of Trevor at all in the whole area, so how does his phone just appear? And in such good condition? I mean, it had a cracked screen, but there was no dirt, no leaves, no nothing on it.”
She said another strange thing that happened a couple of weeks ago involved her brother’s Snapchat account.
A friend sent out a group Snapchat, and someone opened it using Trevor’s account.
“We don’t know who it is because it wasn’t us, and obviously it’s not Trev, so afterward the police actually went into his Snapchat and actually started screenshotting everything that was in his Snapchat.”
Hamlyn wonders what other accounts the person may have accessed belonging to her brother.
She said ever since he went missing, her mother keeps saying that he was always a follower, often following “the wrong crowd”, which got him into trouble.
Never with the police, she said, but little things such as staying out late.
Hamlyn believes that this time her brother fell in with a worse crowd, and perhaps saw something he wasn’t supposed to see.
“Who it is, I have no idea,” she said.
“Trev has such a large amount of friends, but the fact that it could be someone that Trev knows – at this point, I trust no one. Only who’s in my family. I’m not pointing fingers and I’m not blaming anyone, but you can’t help but not trust anyone.”
In the meantime, Hamlyn continues to ask the public to share Trevor’s photo. She said people can also join the Facebook group, “Have You Seen Trevor Hamlyn Aka Pepsi?”
On Saturday, an RNC spokesperson said the file is “still very much being actively investigated by our major crime unit.”
