Raymond Patrick McLean, a 38-year-old Stephenville man who was arrested Friday night for assault with a weapon and other offences, has been remanded in custody.

He appeared in Stephenville Provincial Court on Thursday for a bail hearing decision.

His other charges include: uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon and three counts of failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking or recognizance.

Corp. John Butler said a woman attended the Bay St. George RCMP detachment on Friday saying she had been assaulted with a weapon by her boyfriend in an incident that took place the previous Monday.

He couldn’t say what type of weapon it was where the matter is before the court but did say there were no injuries as a result.

From another incident in late December of 2018, McLean is facing three other charges, including two counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one of possessing a controlled drug or substance for trafficking.

His next appearance in court is set for March 11.
