The City of St. John's is inviting everyone to ring in the New Year with a free concert featuring the Navigators, next to the Quidi Vidi Lake boathouse.

The outdoor concert will begin at 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve.

A countdown to the New Year will be followed by a fireworks display.

“We are very excited to announce that the Navigators will be headlining our New Year’s Eve event this year,” said Mayor Danny Breen. “Last year we had tremendous success with our Canada 150 Celebrations and we will again offer a live concert on New Year’s Eve.”

The all-ages event will also include host Danielle Butt from NTV and complimentary party favours while supplies last. The concert and fireworks will be featured on NTV beginning at 10:30 p.m.

“Our city will be one of the first in North American to ring in 2018,” said Coun. Jamie Korab, council lead of community services and special events. “I encourage you to bundle up and come enjoy the show with your family and friends.”

Accessible parking will be available at the Dominion Memorial Stadium Parking Lot.

If the fireworks are unable to proceed due to weather, the concert will be re-scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, with fireworks immediately following the show.
