Three people were rushed to hospital Thursday afternoon following a single vehicle crash on Pitts Memorial Drive in Mount Pearl.
The crash occurred in the westbound lane near the the Richard Nolan Drive intersection around 5 p.m.
The car is reported to have rolled over as it left the highway, hitting a utility pole and ending up on its roof.
Members of the St. John's Regional Fire Department had to use extrication equipment to remove the three occupants from the car.
All three were taken to hospital, with one of them reported as suffering very serious injuries.
Police had the westbound lane closed to traffic as the investigation into the crash began.
