There were no injuries but extensive damage following a two-car crash at the intersection of Merrymeeting Road and Mayor Avenue in St. John's just after 11 p.m.
The collision caused one of the vehicles to slam into and damage a nearby utility pole. The trunk of the vehicle that hit the pole was nearly completely sheared off in the incident.
Newfoundland Power workers were called to the scene to perform some repairs to a broken wire.
The RNC is investigating.
