Weekend arrest in Churchill Falls results in a number of charges

Police in Churchill Falls responded to a call 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19.

As a result the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have laid a number of charges.

The police received a report that there was an individual inside a residence and would not leave. They were also told that the individual was allegedly causing damage inside the home and assaulting the residents of the home.

Police arrived to find the man in the home and he was being confronted by the people in the home.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old Churchill Falls man. Police said he will be charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling, assault, mischief to property, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

He was held for a court appearance.

RNC are asking anyone with information relating to the incident to contact police at either the Churchill Falls or Labrador City detachments, or through Crimestoppers.
