Woman tries to make a break after Torbay Road traffic stop

St. John’s, N.L. — Shortly before midnight , the RNC attempted a traffic safety stop on a vehicle on Torbay Road. The 28-year-old female driver initially stopped for the officer, then decided to drive away.

The vehicle finally stopped some distance away at which time the woman was arrested and charged with flight from police, two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and breach of court order.

She was also issued a summary offence ticket for operating a vehicle with no insurance.

She was transported to the lockup and is scheduled for a court appearance this morning.

Her vehicle was impounded.
