Women facing charges for mishandling money fundraised for child: Bay Roberts RCMP

BAY ROBERTS, N.L.

Charges are forthcoming against two woman who allegedly mishandled money collected as part of fundraising initiatives in support of a local child, according to the Bay Roberts RCMP.

In a release, the RCMP indicated a 29-year-old Georgetown woman will be charged with false pretenses under $5,000, while a 31-year-old Marysvale woman will be charged with fraud under $5,000.

The police conducted an investigation following complaints they received in early August of this year, the release indicated.

Both women have been released from custody and are scheduled to be in court on Dec. 12.
