Sounds like he should have booked a room.

Tim Williams, known as the “Trivago guy” for his appearance in U.S. ads for the Germany-based hotel-booking site, faces a drunk driving charge after Houston police found him asleep in his car in traffic this week.

“He was passed out with his foot on the brake in a moving lane of traffic,” Houston police spokesman Jodi Silva told CNN.

Silva said Williams failed a sobriety test.

The Houston actor, 52, has had roles in a number of films and TV shows in both the U.S. and Germany but is most recognizable as the pitchman for Trivago.

In a statement to CNN, a Trivago spokesman said: “At this stage, we do not have the full details of the situation, but we want to make clear that Trivago treats such incidents very seriously and strongly condemns drinking and driving, which poses a risk to others and goes against the Trivago culture.”

Williams has been charged with misdemeanour driving while intoxicated. Bail was set at US$100.
