Albert James Clarke

Albert James Clarke
CLARKE Albert James It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mount Pearl Sports Hall of Fame Member, Albert James Clarke, on April 30, 2020, age 82 years. An outstanding father and mentor who gave his family a great life, he was known as the “Million Dollar Man” . He was a very caring man, who put everyone before himself, and it was evident with such a large circle of friends. He gave so much to his community and church whether it be volunteering, fundraising or serving on boards. Albert played a key role in building hockey in the City of Mount Pearl. He dedicated much of his life to the Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association, Mount Pearl Junior Blades, Hockey NL and the Mount Pearl Sports Alliance. He will deeply be missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by his brother, Bern; and sisters: Jean, Josephine and Kathleen. Left with broken hearts but beautiful memories, the love of his life for 61 years, Kathleen (nee Grant); his children, whom he adored: Chris (Roanne) and Wanda (Annette); his siblings: Irene, Doug, John, Ruth, Mick (Sharon), Moe (Bun) and Sandra (Doug); Linda and Dave McCarthy (thank you for your continued support); members of the Grant family; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends – including Harry Bartlett, Jim Doyle, Jim Hare, Pat O’Keefe, Dave Denine, Charlie Stevens, Derm Connolly, Dan Coombs and Clarence Butt, to name a few – but not limited to! Special thank you to Heritage Square for making his last few months so comfortable and pleasant and bringing back his infectious smile and spirit. Due to the Public Health Advisory of COVID-19 a private family burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Galway. Visitation and funeral service will be announced at a later date. Donations in Albert’s memory may be made to the Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association or Holy Family Parish Building Fund. In lieu of visitation at this time, the family and staff of Barrett’s Funeral Home encourage people to post their condolences, share photos, and tributes by visiting the online memorial guestbook at www.barretts.ca
