BLACKWOOD Angela IRIS August 14th, 1949 - January 24th, 2021 Angela IRIS Blackwood (née Boggan) passed peacefully away, in the presence of her family, at the Health Sciences Centre on January 24th, 2021. Pre-deceased by her parents, George and Lucy Boggan (née Ade), brother Blair Boggan, and parents-in-law, Cluny and Audrey Blackwood (née Bowering). Leaving to mourn, with broken hearts and loving memories, her husband Calvin; children Lesley, Steven (Allison) and Jill (Patrick); grandchildren Joshua, Julia, Julianne, Jessie and Amelia; sisters Mary Hopkins (Carl) and Colleen Boggan-Pride (Andrew); brother Wayne Boggan; nephews Jonathan (Leanne) and Jeffrey (Tracey); and niece Sarah, as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Iris devoted herself to a career in nursing, caring for sick children. Upon graduation from the Salvation Army-Grace General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, Iris began a fulfilling career at the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit of the Janeway Children's Hospital. Iris was well loved and respected by her colleagues and many became close friends. As a nurse, she was known for her nurturing and compassionate nature; caring for premature babies in the NICU and supporting many parents through emotionally stressful and difficult situations. She continued to work in the NICU until her retirement in 2009. Iris’s wish for cremation has been honoured. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial service will take place at a later date.
