Beryl Barfoot

Beryl Barfoot
On March 5th, 1931, Beryl (Boland) Barfoot was born on Pinchard's Island, Bonavista Bay to Charles and Mary Boland; the family later resettled to Newtown. It is with sadness we announce Beryl left her earthly life on Saturday, December 15th at St. Patrick's Mercy Home where she was lovingly cared for during the last five years. Beryl choose a career in teaching and taught in Pound Cove, Bonavista, Bell Island and St. John’s. She married the love of her life, Clarence, in 1962 and were blessed with three children John (Dale), Cherilynn (deceased) and Charlie (Sue). The grandchildren Jeffery, Jennifer and Dana Barfoot brought her immense joy, she was so proud of them. Beryl selflessly gave unprecedented time and dedication to her church and church family at Church of the Good Shepherd in Mount Pearl. Beryl is predeceased by her three sisters Becky (Sam), Annie (Don) and Alma (Burt) and two brothers Alec and Art (Sophie). Her remaining cousins are Livy Howell, Harold Perry and Olive Gill; as well as many nieces and nephews. Happy times were spent travelling on and off the Island with her sister and brother-in-law Dulcie and Andy Little John as well with her nephew John Boland and his wife Doris. Cassie (Paul) Sautter were best of friends throughout both their lives. Cassie’s sister Mona Perry was also a valued friend. A service to celebrate Beryl's life will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd on Wednesday, December 20th with visitation from Barrett’s Funeral Home on Hamilton Ave. on Tuesday, December 19th from 10 am to noon, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice in Beryl's memory would be a thoughtful gesture. To view online guest book or leave a message of condolence, please visit www.barretts.ca.
