Brendan JORDAN

Brendan Jordan
JORDAN Brendan Joseph October 8, 1939 – February 15, 2021 It is with great sadness but in appreciation for a life well lived that the family of the late Brendan Joseph Jordan announce his passing at the age of 81 years. Brendan is predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth (Butler) Jordan, infant sister Marina, sister Mary Paul, brother Ed Jordan and other members of the Jordan, Butler and O’Brien families. Left to celebrate a lifetime of wonderful memories are his devoted wife of 60 years, Annie (O’Brien), one dear son, Neil and three daughters: Brenda Heard (John), Ramona Shortall (Mark), Kim Jordan (Moe Tehrani). Poppy loved his treasured grandchildren, Nolan and Rory Shortall, and Ben Tehrani. Also leaving to mourn one sister, Clara Vallis (Onslow), brothers-in-law Jim Paul, Bill O’Brien, sister-in-law, Edna Jordan, special niece Bernadine Sutton, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Proudly born and raised in his beloved Ferryland, Brendan was a retired educator, having taught in many communities on the Southern Shore, beginning in St. Shotts, at the age of 18 years, and finishing at Baltimore High School in Ferryland. For sure, he is teaching a history lesson up in heaven. Brendan had a special fondness for the Bristol’s Hope/ Harbour Grace area as he received some of his early education there and fostered treasured relationships there with the Butler and Jordan families. He was an active member of the community serving on historical and church committees. He was a sought after toast master and emcee, known for his orating abilities which he developed through participation in school plays and concerts in his youth. He also had the distinction of being the first mayor of Ferryland and having the town incorporated. For all of his accomplishments Brendan was proudest of his family. The boy from the Quarry and the girl from the Lookout built a solid foundation of love and devotion. In later years it was the simple things that he enjoyed the most: his beloved Habs, listening to his favourite records, chatting with his good friend, Vince Ryan, picking blueberries, trouting and walking through dear old Ferryland, chatting with his many friends. The family are grateful for the care and compassion shown to him by the team at 3 North West, Pleasant View Towers where he spent the last year and a half. Despite his dementia diagnosis, we take comfort in the grace and resilience Brendan displayed throughout the progression of his illness. Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no visitations or funeral at this time, there will be a private family internment at Holy Family Cemetery, Ferryland and when it is safe to do so, a celebration of life will take place.
