Brother Joseph Bertrand Darcy

Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on October 16, 2018, Brother Joseph Bertrand Darcy, CFC, aged 98 years. Predeceased by his father and mother, James Michael and Isabel (Kelly) Darcy; his sister, Marie Darcy Burnand, and her husband, Dr. Gordon Burnand; sister-in-law, Maggie Darcy; sister-in-law, Mary Darcy. Leaving to mourn, brothers: Dr. Douglas Darcy (England) and Dr. James Darcy; Newfoundland nieces and nephew – Anne (Darcy) Bown (Harry); Sheila (Darcy) Jackman (Dr. Larry); Dr. Stephen Darcy (Iris); and his Religious Congregation, the Congregation of Christian Brothers; as well as nieces and nephews in England from the Burnand and Darcy families; grand-nieces and nephews and great-grand-nieces and nephews in Canada and England. Waking at Mount St. Francis, 4 Merrymeeting Road, St. John’s, NL A1C 6K8. Visitation on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm, and on Friday, Oct. 19 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm. A prayer service will be held on Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 pm at Mount St. Francis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 9:30 am in the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Interment will follow in the Brothers’ plot in Belvedere Cemetery.
