Calvin Bursey — ST JOHN'S

BURSEY Calvin G. "Ladd" Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Memorial Veterans’ Pavilion, in the presence of his loving family on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, Calvin Gordon “Ladd” Bursey, age 95. The youngest child of Elijah and Phoebe Bursey, Ladd was predeceased in 2009 by his beloved wife of 60 years, Theresa (nee Furlong). Leaving to mourn his daughter, Gwendolyn; sons: John (Nancy), Douglas (Debbie) and Jeffrey (Beth Janzen); four granddaughters: Lisa (Gurbir), Ashley (Mitchell), Jessica and Andrea; three great-grandchildren: Callaghan, Kieran and Morgan. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. After serving in the RCAF, Ladd spent many years in the automotive industry in St. John’s and finished his working career as a Commissionaire in the House of Assembly. A tireless volunteer, he generously gave of his time to the Boy Scouts of Canada and for over four decades, to VOWR. Special thank you to the staff of VP-2, Caribou Memorial Veterans’ Pavilion for their care and compassion during our father’s stay. Cremation has taken place. Visitation to be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 7pm-9pm and Sunday, June 16th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral service to be held from Wesley United Church, Patrick Street on Monday, June 17th at 2pm. Inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Ladd’s memory may be made to the War Amps of Canada or to a charity of one’s choice.
