It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Charlie Lawlor, age 90, in the presence of his loving family in St. John's on November 20, 2018. Born January 3, 1928 in Cappahayden, NL, son of the of the late Timothy and Mary Lawlor (Murphy). Predeceased by his loving wife Bridie (Mackey) Lawlor (2014), darling grandson Chad Lawlor (1993), son-in-law Donny Shaw (2004), brothers Vincent (Martha), Pat (Eileen), Mike (Mary) and sister Marion Kenny (Neddie). Devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Wayne (Monica), Keith (Rose), Dianne Isaac (Isaac) London, ON, Brian (Margie), Karen Nicholl (Gerry) Ottawa, ON, Marion Joy (Marty), Christine Shaw, Patricia Coady and Sandra Young (Paul). Poppy's abundance of love and sense of humour will be greatly missed by his 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Left with cherished and loving memories are his sisters-in-law Helen Edgar (John-deceased) Ottawa, ON, Mary Whelan (Bob-deceased), Gertie Fagan (Gerry-deceased), Dorothy Dalton (Frank-deceased), Lorraine Stanley (Joe), Marie Woodrow (Phil), brothers-in-law Ed Mackey (Cis), Joe Mackey (Marilyn) and sister-in-law Lorraine Mackey (Leonard-deceased) along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dad had a 36 year career with Canada Post and was a Fourth Degree member of Archbishop Howley Assembly and Terra Nova Council 1452 Knights of Columbus. He gave of himself generously for many years through committees and volunteer services as a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish and many other volunteer agencies. We remember and are truly appreciative of the respect and compassion that was shown to Dad by his health care providers and wish to send a very special thank you with deep gratitude to Dr. Phair and Dr. Vidyasankar. Thanks also to the staff and friends at Hillcrest Estates. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 from 2 – 4:30 pm and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, November 24 at 9:30 am, Corpus Christi Church, 260 Waterford Bridge Road. Donations in Dad's memory to St. Vincent de Paul, Corpus Christi Parish, would be greatly accepted. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. Revelation 21:4
