BUTLER (nee BLACKMORE) Daphne Athol (Jan. 5, 1928 – Mar. 5, 2021) Passed away peacefully at her home in Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence on March 5. Born in Templeman, Bonavista Bay, Daphne was the youngest and last remaining child of Peter and Mary Blackmore. Daphne is predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Harold (1991), as well as her infant brother, sisters Gertie Garris (Louie), Nathalie Sooley (Chris), Florence Vincent (Maxwell), brother Gordon Blackmore (Carrie), and Harold’s sisters Blanche Peters (Bert) and Alma Swain (Hal). Daphne leaves to mourn her devoted sons Charlie (Karyn) and Eric (Ruth), and her grandchildren Ryan, Lesley, and Erin (Omar), whom she loved dearly. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and close friends, in Canada and the US. Daphne will be fondly remembered for her caring disposition, which was a valuable asset to her career as a nursing assistant at several St. John’s institutions. Those who knew Daphne will also remember her impish nature. She had an infectious smile and a cheeky sense of humour. She made us laugh. The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Percy Crocker and the wonderful staff at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence for the expert care given to Daphne over the last seven years. Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. A celebration of Daphne’s life will be held at a later date. Donations made in Daphne’s memory to a charity of one’s choice will be gratefully appreciated. To send a message of condolence please visit www.carnells.com
